<image:title>Europe - On-Site or Off-site at Disneyland Paris: Which stay is best for your family? - The Pros of Staying On‑Site</image:title>
<image:caption>✨ Extra Magic Time Every on‑site guest gets early park entry. It’s the closest most of us will ever get to VIP status and with Extra Magic Time, you can often tick off some of the busiest rides before the queues even wake up. OR ride front row ‍♀️ Easy Access to the Parks Most hotels are walkable or a short shuttle ride away. No parking drama, no “where did we leave the car” meltdown. The Full Disney Bubble You don’t just visit Disney — you live in it. The music, the theming, the characters… it’s everywhere, and it’s delightful.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - On-Site or Off-site at Disneyland Paris: Which stay is best for your family? - The Cons of Staying On‑Site</image:title>
<image:caption>The Cost: On‑site hotels range from “oof” to “my wallet is crying softly in the corner.” You May Never Want to Leave: Re‑entering the real world after being fully Disney‑fied is… emotionally complex. ‍‍ Best For: Families with younger kids, first‑timers, convenience lovers, and anyone who wants maximum magic with minimum stress.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - On-Site or Off-site at Disneyland Paris: Which stay is best for your family? - The Pros of Staying Off‑Site</image:title>
<image:caption>Much Cheaper More money for snacks, souvenirs, and that giant plush you swore you wouldn’t buy. More Space Apartments, family rooms, kitchens — actual room to breathe. A Break from the Bubble Sometimes you just want a normal breakfast without a Disney soundtrack cheering you on.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - On-Site or Off-site at Disneyland Paris: Which stay is best for your family?</image:title>
<image:caption>The Cons of Staying Off‑Site ⏳ Travel Time: Cars, buses, trains — all fine until everyone is tired and sticky. ⏰ No Extra Magic Time: Watching on‑site guests stroll in early can sting a little. Less Flexibility: Leaving the park for a break becomes a full operation. ‍‍ Best For: Budget-conscious families, longer stays, older kids, or repeat visitors who don’t mind a bit of travel.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - On-Site or Off-site at Disneyland Paris: Which stay is best for your family?</image:title>
<image:caption>⭐ Our Final Verdict… If you can swing it, on‑site wins for convenience, theming, and that extra sprinkle of Disney magic. If you’re watching the budget, off‑site is still very doable — and still very Disney. Either way, you’ll leave tired, happy, and wondering how one holiday involved so many snacks.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - Family‑Friendly Mallorca: Top Day Trips for Toddlers - Palma Acquarium</image:title>
<image:caption>Palma Aquarium gets top spot on our list because it’s genuinely one of our favourite aquariums in the entire world — and we’ve dragged toddlers through more aquariums than I care to admit. This one just hits different. It’s beautifully laid out, super stroller‑friendly, and packed with huge tanks that keep little ones mesmerised long enough for you to actually read a sign or two. The Big Blue shark tank is the show‑stopper — our toddler stood there in complete awe, which is a rare and precious moment worth framing.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - Family‑Friendly Mallorca: Top Day Trips for Toddlers - Safari Mallorca</image:title>
<image:caption>Safari Mallorca is one of the easiest and most enjoyable toddler‑friendly days out on the island. The drive‑through format means you can stay in the car, making it ideal for little ones who tire quickly or prefer a calmer pace. You’ll see giraffes, zebras, monkeys and other animals up close, which keeps toddlers engaged without overwhelming them. Our toddler loved pointing out the animals as we drove through, and the slower pace made it a relaxing experience for us too. There’s also a small walk‑around area and a playground if you want to stretch legs afterwards.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - Family‑Friendly Mallorca: Top Day Trips for Toddlers - Marineland Mallorca</image:title>
<image:caption>Marineland is a popular choice for families with young children, and it works especially well for toddlers thanks to its compact layout and easy pacing. The dolphin and sea lion shows are the main highlights — engaging, well‑timed, and short enough to keep little ones interested without overwhelming them. Alongside the shows, you’ll find penguins, tropical birds, and a small aquarium area that’s ideal for slow, curious exploring. One of the biggest toddler‑friendly features is the splash park. It’s a safe, shallow, brightly coloured water play area where little ones can cool off and burn some energy between shows. For families visiting in warmer months, it’s often the part toddlers enjoy the most. There are shaded seating areas nearby too, which makes it easy for parents to take a breather while still keeping an eye on the fun.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - Family‑Friendly Mallorca: Top Day Trips for Toddlers - Katmandu Park</image:title>
<image:caption>Katmandu Park is one of Mallorca’s most well‑known family attractions, and while many of the headline rides are aimed at older children, there’s a dedicated Katmandu Kids Zone that works really well for toddlers. This area includes gentle rides, soft‑play style activities, shaded spaces, and plenty of room for little ones to explore at their own pace. The park is compact and easy to navigate, which makes it manageable with a stroller, and there are lots of places to pause for snacks or a break. Toddlers usually enjoy the mini‑carousel, small climbing areas, and the splash‑pad style water features in warmer months. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a day out that offers variety without being overwhelming.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Katmandu Park Waterpark (Katopia Splash Park) Part of Katmandu Park, Katopia Splash Park is one of the best toddler‑friendly water areas in Mallorca. It’s a bright, shallow splash zone designed with younger children in mind, featuring gentle fountains, small slides, and plenty of space for safe, confidence‑building water play. The features are soft and low‑pressure, making it ideal even for toddlers who prefer calmer water experiences.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - Family‑Friendly Mallorca: Top Day Trips for Toddlers</image:title>
<image:caption>Parc de la Mar (Palma) Parc de la Mar is one of the best spots in Palma for a toddler reset — especially if you’ve been navigating the cathedral, shops, cafés, and busy streets with little ones in tow. The wide open space, fresh air, and views of the cathedral make it a lovely change of pace, and it’s the perfect place to let toddlers run, snack, or simply decompress after sightseeing. There are playgrounds, shaded areas, and plenty of room for a slow wander. It’s also stroller‑friendly, which makes it an easy stop during a day in the city. For families exploring Palma, Parc de la Mar is a reliable, low‑stress break that helps everyone recharge before carrying on with the rest of the day.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - Family‑Friendly Mallorca: Top Day Trips for Toddlers</image:title>
<image:caption>️ And of course… Mallorca’s beaches No toddler‑friendly guide to Mallorca would be complete without mentioning the island’s beaches. There are countless stretches of soft sand and shallow, calm water all over the island, and many of them are perfect for little ones. From the bigger, well‑serviced beaches to the smaller coves, you’ll find gentle waves, easy access, and plenty of space for toddlers to dig, paddle, and explore at their own pace. What makes Mallorca especially great for families is how many beaches also have play parks dotted along the promenades. It means you can mix sandcastle time with a quick run around the swings, or use the playground as a fun incentive when attention spans start to fade. Whether you’re planning a full beach day or just stopping for an hour between activities, Mallorca’s coastline gives you endless, low‑stress options that work beautifully for younger children.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We thought flying from Aberdeen to London and then on to Southampton would be the easy option. Then we remembered a tiny detail: getting from London to Southampton with four children and approximately one million suitcases. <image:caption>The 10‑hour drive was instantly worth it the moment the kids saw the ship — all 331 metres long and 65 metres high of this so‑called “masterpiece at sea.” Their faces said it all. Suddenly the snacks, the arguments, and the endless “are we nearly there yet” felt like a distant memory.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned)</image:title>
<image:caption>Stepping onto MSC Virtuosa felt like walking into a futuristic mini street that also happens to float. The “longest LED Dome at sea” was the first thing we saw, and it immediately stole the show. The indoor promenade is packed with restaurants, cafés, and shops, and we spent our first few minutes just spinning in circles, staring up at the ceiling like confused tourists who’d accidentally boarded a spaceship.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned)</image:title>
<image:caption>️Our Cabin: Cosy, Chaotic, and Questionable Choices We booked this cruise so last‑minute that connecting cabins were a distant dream, but we told ourselves it would be fine. They’re only for sleeping in… right? Famous last words. Within 24 hours, the kids were waging nightly battles over who got to sleep with Mum or Dad, I was running a full‑scale clothing‑logistics operation between two cabins, and my husband and I basically lived like polite neighbours who occasionally waved across the corridor. Romantic, in a “separate‑addresses” kind of way.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned)</image:title>
<image:caption>Time for the sail away party — music pumping, people dancing, kids already hyped on nothing but sea air — and us quietly wondering whether we’d just made a terrible life choice. As the land started shrinking behind us, the party atmosphere said “Wooo, adventure!” while my inner voice whispered, “Well… too late now.” But with the ship buzzing, and everyone around us in full holiday mode, it was impossible not to get swept up in the moment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned) - Swimming Pools</image:title>
<image:caption>MSC Virtuosa has four incredible pools, including it’s very own waterpark at sea. In theory, the pools can comfortably accommodate over 1,000 guests — which sounds wonderfully spacious… on paper. In reality - at the height of school holidays, they were pretty crowded. And of course, when the ship was at sea, the pools occasionally transformed into accidental wave pools. The kids thought this was the greatest thing ever — like a free waterpark upgrade — while we were just trying to keep 3 toddlers and 1 baby upright and not drifting toward Spain. Fun? Yes. Relaxing? Absolutely not.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned)</image:title>
<image:caption>Kids Club MSC Virtuosa’s kids club starts from just 6 months old and runs all the way up to 11 years, split into three age groups: 0–3, 3–6, and 7–11. Each group has its own space and activities, from games and events to Arts & Crafts that let their imaginations run wild. My two boys’ absolute favourite part? The mountains of LEGO and DUPLO thanks to MSC’s partnership with the LEGO brand. Honestly, they would’ve happily moved in and lived there forever. I’ve never seen them so quiet, focused, and blissfully entertained — a true cruise miracle.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned) - ️Dining on board</image:title>
<image:caption>With 11 dining options on MSC Virtuosa, you’re genuinely spoiled for choice. From the main dining rooms to beautifully themed speciality restaurants, there’s something for every kind of eater — including picky little travellers. You can also choose to purchase a dining package, which gives you a set number of meals in the speciality restaurants, depending on the package you select. It’s a great way to try the more unique venues and adds a fun little upgrade to the cruise experience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned)</image:title>
<image:caption>With four toddlers in tow, the Marketplace Buffet was… a lot. It’s huge, it’s busy almost all the time, and trying to find a table big enough for all six of us felt like a competitive sport. Add in the mission of getting food for everyone and then actually sitting down to eat it, and it often felt like an impossible task — definitely not the relaxing, holiday‑style mealtimes you dream of. The view, however, did just about make up for the chaos. There’s something about watching the sea roll by that softens even the most hectic buffet experience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned)</image:title>
<image:caption>We definitely enjoyed our meals more in the main dining room — once we made it past the nightly gauntlet of photographers trying to capture our starving toddlers before they’d even seen a bread roll. (We did end up buying a few… they got us.) We managed to secure an early dining time, which made a huge difference, and we genuinely loved both the staff and the food here. It felt calmer, more structured, and far closer to the relaxing holiday mealtimes we’d hoped for.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ⚓Our First Cruise as a Family of 6: What We Loved (and Learned) - Bars</image:title>
<image:caption>With five outdoor bars and sixteen indoor, there was no shortage of cocktails to sample over our 14‑night cruise. We mostly found ourselves gravitating towards Atmosphere Bar North, where we could soak up the sea air and watch whatever entertainment was happening that evening. Be quick though — tables disappeared fast. If you weren’t out early enough, finding a spot could be tricky. This bar got busy, but MSC did a great job of setting up extra prosecco and beer stalls to ease the queues at the main bar, which made the whole experience feel much smoother.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This was our first family trip to Disneyland Paris, and we were determined to make it as magical as possible without blowing our entire holiday budget for the year. So we opted for Newport Bay Club, the four‑star on‑site Disney hotel that came up third in price after The Disneyland Hotel and The Marvel Hotel — a perfect middle‑ground of comfort, convenience, and Disney sparkle.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>We’d pre‑booked Prestige Transfers, and they were brilliant from the moment we landed. Our driver was waiting at Charles de Gaulle with a welcome sign (always a relief when you’ve got tired kids in tow), and the mini‑van felt like a little slice of Disney magic before we’d even reached the parks. The kids got to choose a Disney movie to watch on the screens in the back, and the twinkly LED roof kept them absolutely mesmerised the whole way. It was the calmest airport‑to‑hotel journey we’ve ever had.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>The arrival process at the hotel is slightly chaotic and a bit confusing, and you might find yourself walking back and forth a couple of times before you’ve done everything in the right order. To save you the hassle, here’s how it actually works: First, you’ll put your luggage through the security scanner at the entrance. Once that’s done, head into the lobby to check in and collect your Magic Pass, which you’ll need for park access. After that, you go back outside to the bag drop, where you leave your luggage so you can head straight for the parks without dragging suitcases behind you. It’s not the slickest system, but once you know the steps, it’s much easier to navigate.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club - We headed straight to the park (only a 15 minute walk!) for the children’s first taste of the magic — but I’ll save that story for another post, because this one is all about Disney’s Newport Bay Club. There’s plenty to say about the hotel itself, and it deserves its own moment in the spotlight.</image:title>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>We’d booked a Superior Room with a lake view, and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The nautical Disney theming made it feel really special — subtle enough for adults to enjoy but magical enough for the kids to notice straight away. And that view over the lake was the perfect finishing touch. We were genuinely excited to settle in and spend five nights here. The storage space in the bedroom was definitely a bit of a squeeze for our family, but the extra shelves and storage nook in the bathroom helped take the pressure off. And the Mickey‑themed shampoo and shower gel miniatures were a huge hit — the kids thought they were the best thing ever, and I have to admit, 1 or 2 may have been popped into the suitcase as an extra souvenir.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the big reasons we chose Disney’s Newport Bay Club was the swimming pools. We knew it would probably be a bit too chilly in May to make much use of the outdoor pool, but we loved the idea of having somewhere to escape to in the afternoons — a little breather from the parks to recharge the kids (and our own batteries). It felt like the perfect built‑in pause button for busy Disney days. The nautical‑themed pool area (yes, the whole hotel leans fully into boats, seas, knots and anchors) was a really lovely setting. Inside, there’s a small baby pool and a generously sized jacuzzi, which was perfect for a mid‑afternoon unwind. And we did actually brave the outdoors for a quick swim one day — thankfully the outdoor pool is heated, so it ended up being much more enjoyable than we expected.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>We had booked the half‑board meal plan, which meant breakfast at the hotel each morning and then lunch or dinner anywhere across the Disney restaurants and buffets. In theory, it’s a beautifully simple system. In reality, it’s a race against every other parent in Europe who also wants to eat at 5pm before their children turn into pumpkins. I’ll leave the dinners we had a PYMs, Downtown and Captain Jacks for my full Disney review and focus on</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>Both breakfast and dinner are served at Newport Bay Club’s Cape Cod restaurant — and yes, you’ve guessed it, the theming is exactly what you think it is. Picture seaside vibes, nautical touches, and enough anchors to make you wonder if you should’ve packed a captain’s hat. It’s an all‑you‑can‑eat buffet, and breakfast has all the usual favourites: hot options, continental bits, pastries you definitely didn’t plan to eat but somehow ended up on your plate… plus the real stars of the show — Mickey pancakes and waffles. There are also a few fun pre‑park Disney surprise dishes that the kids spotted before I did. It’s basically the kind of breakfast that guarantees everyone is fuelled for a day of magic (and also mildly sugared‑up before 9am).</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>For a more sophisticated option, you would want to opt for The Yacht Club at Newport Bay Club. According to the description it appears to offer a calm, elegant setting and combines “New-England” with a touch of Mediterrranean styled dishes however … we didn’t make it there ourselves, which was probably for the best. By the end of a full Disney day, our kids were nowhere near “fancy restaurant‑ready,” and a peaceful nautical dining room deserved better than our overtired crew. It did however look like a lovely spot to unwind after a busy park day when i peered longingly through the window.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>If you have time to stop by the Captain’s Corner while passing through the lobby, it’s a lovely little space — very much a “corner,” just as the name promises — with a few Disney activities laid out for kids. There’s colouring, an arcade‑style games table, and if you happen to wander in at the right moment, you might even find a Cast Member running something fun. Our children were lucky enough to try a bit of Disney origami with them, which was such a sweet touch and a perfect breather from the park buzz. It’s important to note that Captain’s Corner is not a kids’ club where you can drop your little ones and dash off to the nearest bar or roller coaster. We saw quite a few parents try exactly that and look genuinely disappointed when they realised it’s simply an activity space, not supervised childcare.</image:caption>

<image:title>Europe - ️Sailing into the Magic: Our Stay at Disney’s Newport Bay Club</image:title>
<image:caption>To round things off — and in true “saving the best for last” style — one of the biggest bonuses of staying at Disney’s Newport Bay Club was being able to meet Mickey, Minnie and the crew right inside the hotel. Their meet‑and‑greet spot isn’t immediately obvious, and they only appear at certain times of day, so it’s worth asking at reception when you arrive. There’s usually a small queue, but nothing like the wait times you’ll see in the parks. We waited a maximum of 20 minutes, and it felt like such a treat to meet them in a calmer, more relaxed setting after the buzz of the day.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kolymbia, Rhodes — a peaceful, family‑friendly area with mountain views, warm breezes, and that classic Greek‑island charm. 4–4.5 hour flight from the UK — short enough to avoid major meltdowns, long enough for snacks and a movie. We took the TUI coach transfer, and while it worked, it definitely wasn’t our finest decision with four kids aged four and under. Because we landed late at night, everyone was tired, cranky, and running on fumes. The journey took over an hour, and the bus made multiple stops, which felt like an eternity when all we wanted was a bed, a shower, and children who weren’t on the brink of a meltdown.</image:caption>

Big Slides: Minimum height 1.2m - Smaller Slide: Minimum height 0.9m - Lazy River: A gentle loop perfect for floating, relaxing, or pretending you’re supervising while actually doing nothing at all It’s colourful, lively, and one of the resort’s biggest highlights for families.</image:caption>

<image:caption>If there’s one thing Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes does well, it’s feeding families who seem to be permanently “just a little bit hungry.” Honestly, with this many restaurants, bars, snack corners, food trucks and ice‑cream stops, your kids will forget what hunger even feels like — but somehow still ask for a snack every 20 minutes. Main Buffet Olive Chef’s Market – Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Activity area. And when it comes to food, the variety is just as impressive. <image:caption>Last but definitely not least - this brand new resort may be ultra‑luxurious, but it’s also designed with families firmly in mind. The resort’s eight swimming pools steal the show — from a Caribbean‑inspired seawater pool serving all the tropical vibes to multiple indoor pools for when you need a break from the sun. Little ones get their own kids’ pool and even a wave pool, so splashtastic days are pretty much guaranteed. Families are well looked after with a brilliant children’s club, while the dining scene ranges from tapas and wine to a cosy Turkish coffeehouse for sweet treats between swims. <image:caption>Set in sunny Sharm El Sheikh — right on the Red Sea coastline, so the views do most of the bragging for you Around 5–6 hours flight from major UK airports — long enough for the kids to ask “Are we there yet?” but short enough for you to still smile about it 20‑minute transfer from Sharm El Sheikh Airport — basically “blink and you’re at the pool” distance.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise</image:title>
<image:caption>Swimming Pools Main pool with entertainment and slides – This is the loud, lively heart of the resort. Expect constant action from the Holiday Village team: pool games, quizzes, bingo, aqua aerobics, dancing and music that absolutely refuses to be background noise. If you came on holiday for peace and quiet… you’ve wandered into the wrong pool. Thankfully, this was exactly what we came for as our kids love to get involved with absolutely everything and this is where we spent the majority of our time!</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise</image:title>
<image:caption>Aqua Park - Last but definitely not least! Across the road at the sister hotel (Coral Sea Aqua Club) is a full‑on aqua park with a wave pool, lazy river, slides and a splash zone for the little ones. You can grab non‑alcoholic drinks and snacks from the food court while you’re there, which is handy when the kids refuse to leave. We made the rookie mistake of waiting almost a week before checking it out, fully expecting something tiny and a bit sad… but it turned out to be brilliant. A proper “why didn’t we come sooner?” moment. *Note The road between the hotel and the aqua park is wildly busy — the kind of busy where you briefly question all your life choices. Luckily, the hotel’s security team are stationed there to escort you across like VIPs… if VIPs travelled with arm bands, wet towels and four children arguing about who gets to press the lift button.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - ️ Rooms Double Room with balcony or terrace (Sleeps up to 3) – Your classic “we’re only sleeping here anyway” setup. Plenty of space for families who travel with 47 soft toys and a suitcase full of snacks Interconnecting rooms (Sleeps up to 6) – Basically the “as above but doubled” option, and the only setup that sleeps six. It worked brilliantly for us — two rooms, two bathrooms, and enough space that we all felt like we had our own little corner to escape to. The kids loved the freedom, we loved the breathing room, and everyone stayed far happier as a result.</image:title>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - The Dine Around Buffet Restaurant - Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with live cooking stations, a kids’ corner and even an adults‑only area for anyone trying to pretend they’re on a peaceful getaway.</image:title>
<image:caption>Village Diner – This one was our absolute favourite. Think American‑meets‑Mexican comfort food served in a brilliantly themed, well‑decorated restaurant that feels like it’s been plucked straight from a movie set. We loved the vibe, the décor and, most importantly, the food. The steak was the standout dish for us, and the kids were in nacho‑fuelled heaven. You get one visit per week on All Inclusive, and it’s 100% worth snapping up. Greek Taverna - A nice à la carte with sea views and all the Greek favourites. One visit per stay is included, and it’s a nice change from the buffet chaos. Tip - Bring a fan, this another warm one!</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise</image:title>
<image:caption>The StoneGrill™ (extra charge) – I’d read so many glowing reviews about this place that, as a big steak lover, I went in with sky‑high expectations. Sadly, it ended up being our least favourite à la carte of the trip. The cut of meat wasn’t great, the restaurant felt about 100 degrees inside, and the open flame heating the hot stone was slightly terrifying with a 3, 4, 6 and 7‑year‑old at the table. It’s a fun concept — cooking your own steak, fish or satay on a 400‑degree stone — but for us, it just didn’t live up to the hype. La Mer Restaurant (extra charge) – I have just spotted this “romantic sea food spot by the sea” on the Tui website and I honestly can’t tell if it’s new for 2026 or if we just completely missed it, but as big seafood lovers we’d definitely have tried it. It’s on the list for next time.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise</image:title>
<image:caption>Kids Club If your kids ever claim they’re “bored” here, they’re lying. Or lost. Or possibly someone else’s children. Open seven days a week, and most of it is included, which is the real magic. HV has a club for every age and energy level. The HV Crèche looks after the tiniest guests (up to 35 months) with storytelling, crafts and even a bit of evening star‑gazing — which is adorable until you realise they’ll be up at 5am anyway. ** We didn’t need the crèche this time as our youngest is now four, but we’ve used the HV Crèche at other resorts and honestly, the staff were brilliant. Our two were 1 and 2 at the time and liked the crèche team so much they practically forgot we existed. We popped them in for one session a day and they trotted off happily every time — worth the extra charge for a tiny slice of parental freedom.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - The HV Club for 3–9s is basically a child’s dream: detective missions, space‑themed games and enough excitement that they come back buzzing but somehow still refuse to nap. The HV Crew for 10–12s gets the cool stuff like Twilight Thrills — obstacle courses and puzzles once the sun goes down, because apparently kids don’t get tired. This is one we haven’t tried and tested yet with our oldest being 8 but we heard great things from other families! The kids’ club schedule is all on the Holiday Village app, which you can download before you go or once you arrive. You can check the timetable, register the kids and even upload photos of the grown‑ups who are allowed to sign them out. You can also book and pay for the extra activities on there, like the Chocolate Party and the Widget Party. Both were a small extra cost but absolutely worth it — the kids came out buzzing and covered in varying amounts of sugar and glitter.</image:title>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - Parent & Toddler Sessions - If you’ve got a little one under 35 months, there are sweet sessions like Arty Tots, Beach Tots and Sensory Splashers. Great for meeting other parents and pretending you’ve got your life together.</image:title>
<image:caption>HV Academy - The HV Academies on offer here are swimming, football and stage — and honestly, they were all brilliant. The football academy runs early morning or in the evening so the kids aren’t melting in the heat, which is a win for everyone. There’s no pressure to go every day, but after they’ve done a certain number of sessions they get a certificate presented on stage, which made our lot feel like absolute superstars.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - ‍♂️ Other HV Activities</image:title>
<image:caption>Aerial Adventure – A huge hit with the over‑6s. It’s a proper little assault course up in the air, complete with harnesses and all the safety bits that make parents breathe again. Each HV has a slightly different setup, and yes, adults can have a go too… if you’re feeling brave enough to be shown up by your own children. Aeroball – Imagine trampolining and basketball had a very energetic baby. That’s Aeroball. Sessions are split by age, and there are family slots too if you fancy bouncing around together like caffeinated kangaroos. Archery, Football Pitch, Tennis Court, Volleyball, Playpark</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - Other (Non‑HV) Activities</image:title>
<image:caption>We booked a watersports morning, which was a brilliant change of pace. It’s about a 15‑minute walk along the beach to the watersports centre, where we signed up for a package that included the banana boat, the water sofa (chaos, but hilarious) and a speedboat trip out to a coral reef for some genuinely great snorkelling. There’s also a camel called Bobby who casually hangs out on the beach offering rides — the kids thought he was iconic.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Holiday Village Red Sea - Family Friendly Paradise - Evening Entertainment</image:title>
<image:caption>Evenings are almost always kicked off with the super‑child‑friendly stuff — mini discos, silly games and plenty of Widget appearances to keep the little ones buzzing. Once that wrapped up, the later show was technically aimed at adults, but the kids were more than happy to sit with a mocktail and watch along. The evenings felt easy, relaxed and genuinely enjoyable for everyone. We weren’t totally sold on the idea of indoor entertainment at first — it’s not what we’re used to on holiday — but the air‑conditioned theatre won us over pretty quickly. It still felt relaxed with its table‑and‑chair setup, and honestly, after a day in the sun, the cool air was a blessing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Location Set along the beautiful coastline of Alanya, with the Mediterranean stretching out in front of you like a postcard you can swim in. Around a 4–5 hour flight from major UK airports — long enough for the kids to ask “How many minutes now?” every 12 minutes. We saved £1400 by travelling to Newcastle from Aberdeen before English School holidays started.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>️ Rooms Choosing a room type at Long Beach can feel a bit like navigating a maze. The resort is split into two main sections, which often causes confusion for first‑timers, but the important thing to know is that everyone gets access to all the same facilities, no matter where they stay. Rooms are located either in the Main Building or the Harmony Building. The Harmony side is the newer, more modern section of the resort — and it’s usually the one you see featured in glossy adverts and tour operator photos. The Main Building rooms are slightly older in style but still comfortable, spacious and close to the heart of the action.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Swimming Pools Long Beach doesn’t just have pools — it collects them like Pokémon. There are several “main” pools spread across the resort, each with its own personality — music, pool games, swim‑up bars, waterfalls, or a more laid‑back vibe if that’s what you’re after. Whatever your pool style, there’s a spot that fits it perfectly.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Waterparks There were FOUR different waterparks at this resort - slides for all ages including my husband. One of the biggest highlights. Slides for all ages, from gentle twists to “why did I agree to this?” drops. Our favourite “base” quickly became the small waterpark on the Harmony side. The snack bar kept everyone fuelled with delicious bites all day long, the slides had something for all four of our children, and the pool was shallow enough that they could all stand comfortably. This meant that, on the rare occasion the stars aligned, I could even supervise from my sunbed — cocktail in hand — while they entertained themselves. A true holiday miracle.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Funfair & Extra Activities One of the most unique things about Long Beach is the on‑site funfair — and yes, it’s included. I had heard about a few hotels with this offering (mostly in Turkey) and was quite excited at the prospect. Dodgems Pirate ship swing Carousel Trampolines Mini Electric Car track (this was extra but so worth it) AND MORE..</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Ziplining The zipline deserves its own heading because it was an absolute standout for all of us. It stretches from one end of the enormous resort to the other, soaring over waterslides, the amphitheatre, bars and more — it genuinely gave us Vegas‑style vibes. They even hand you a GoPro so you can capture the whole thing, which is brilliant for reliving the moment (or laughing at your own scream). Even our youngest two got to join in and zip alongside us, which made it one of those rare activities that every single member of the family loved equally.</image:caption>

<image:caption>️ Food & Drink Long Beach takes feeding families very seriously. You’ve got: A huge main buffet plus a smaller one Several à la carte restaurants Snack bars galore! Bars everywhere you turn</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Buffet The main buffet here is absolutely enormous — There are countless cooking stations and a huge variety of dishes on offer, so no one is going hungry. Keep an eye on your children getting lost in here. The only downside? Some fellow holidaymakers seemed to leave their queuing manners at home. A bit of pushing in and general chaos at peak times did take the shine off the experience occasionally, but that’s more a people problem than a hotel one. There was also a huge kids’ seating area designed to look like a boat, complete with built‑in TV screens. It was a brilliant little corner for children to sit, snack and regroup — and a lifesaver when ours needed a breather (or when we needed five minutes of silence).</image:caption>

<image:caption>Snack Bars Pizza, burgers, chips, gözleme (Turkish pancakes), ice cream… basically everything children consider the four main food groups. À la Cartes IMexican, Meditteranean, Turkish and Asian. Some require reservations, some have (very small) extra charges. Dress Code The website suggests long trousers for men, but in reality most wore smart shorts (just not swim shorts).</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Kids Club Thankfully, this resort had so much going on that we didn’t really need to rely on the kids’ clubs. The one on the hotel side was quite dark and a bit dingy, which didn’t exactly scream “fun” to four young children. It did have trampolines and a few activities they enjoyed — like T‑shirt painting — but overall it definitely wasn’t up there with the best kids’ clubs we’ve experienced. The larger kids’ club on the beach side of the resort had similar vibes — dark, a bit tired‑looking, and not particularly inviting. When we popped in one afternoon, it actually looked half‑built and not fully functioning, which didn’t exactly inspire confidence.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mid-Haul - Long Beach Resort & Spa Alanya – A Family Playground on the Turkish Coast</image:title>
<image:caption>Evening Entertainment Evening entertainment kicked off each night with a mini disco in the Amphitheatre. We didn’t make it there every evening, but when we did, the kids absolutely loved it — especially getting up on stage to dance along to all the holiday classics (think “Chocolaaaaate!”). Later, the main show would begin… though these didn’t start until 10pm, which was a bit late for us to commit to every night. The ones we did catch were great — including an impressive motorcycle stunt show that had the whole crowd buzzing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>⭐ Our Rating: 8/10 Pros Incredible amount for kids to do — funfair, pools, slides, ziplines, etc. Great staff throughout the resort Great food variety No mad rush for sunbeds Rooms spacious and comfortable</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - 5 Proven Ways to Beat Jet Lag With Kids (Family Travel Tips That Actually Work) - Start BEFORE you travel</image:title>
<image:caption>A little pre‑trip prep goes a long way when you’re hopping time zones with kids. Flying east? Start nudging bedtime earlier by 15–30 minutes each night. Flying west? Shift bedtime later by 15–20 minutes each night. These tiny tweaks help reset everyone’s internal clocks so you arrive feeling far more human and far less like a family of confused nocturnal creatures. Small changes before you go really do make for a smoother landing.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/6967f34a49e1a27f30cd1c69/1772028387112-T4VXTAJU207F55MKN0SQ/unsplash-image-xDkx1NKgJpE.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Long-Haul - 5 Proven Ways to Beat Jet Lag With Kids (Family Travel Tips That Actually Work) - 2. Choose flights strategically (If you can!)</image:title>
<image:caption>Eastbound flights (harder on the body) — Travelling “forward” in time shortens your day, so landing later in the afternoon or early evening helps you push through to a normal bedtime. Earlier departures also reduce the chance of arriving at dawn when everyone is exhausted but technically supposed to stay awake. Westbound flights (usually easier) — You’re effectively lengthening your day, so mid‑morning departures help you land with plenty of daylight left. This makes it easier to stay awake until a reasonable local bedtime without forcing kids into a marathon of overtiredness.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>

<image:title>Long-Haul - 5 Proven Ways to Beat Jet Lag With Kids (Family Travel Tips That Actually Work) - 3. Light. Is. Everything.</image:title>
<image:caption>Sunlight is one of the strongest natural cues for resetting the body clock, and using it strategically can make a big difference when you’re travelling with kids. Light tells the brain when to feel awake and when to wind down. After a long flight, getting the right light at the right time helps your internal clock shift toward the new time zone more quickly.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - 5 Proven Ways to Beat Jet Lag With Kids (Family Travel Tips That Actually Work) - 4. Nap Smart</image:title>
<image:caption>Keeping naps on arrival day short is one of the simplest ways to stop jet lag from turning into a midnight party, especially with kids who can fall asleep anywhere, anytime. Don’t avoid naps completely — overtired kids melt down faster and adjust slower. Do keep naps short (30–60 minutes max) — a quick reset without undoing your time‑zone shift.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - 5 Proven Ways to Beat Jet Lag With Kids (Family Travel Tips That Actually Work) - 5. The First Night Survival Plan</image:title>
<image:caption>The first evening sets the tone for the entire adjustment. Serve dinner at local time, even if it feels like breakfast back home. It helps everyone’s body clock shift. Early bedtime is totally fine—kids will be wiped, and forcing them to stay up usually backfires. Keep the bedtime routine familiar with the same simple steps you use at home so their brains recognise it’s time to sleep.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - 5 Proven Ways to Beat Jet Lag With Kids (Family Travel Tips That Actually Work) - *Extra Tips</image:title>
<image:caption>A simple rule of thumb helps set expectations: jet lag usually lasts about one day per time zone crossed. Those first two days are the most delicate. Instead of trying to “power through,” it’s far more effective to plan low‑key activities for the first 48 hours. Think gentle walks, playground time, easy meals, and flexible plans that allow for early nights or unexpected naps</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Anantara The Palm: The Family Resort That Surprised Us in the Best Way - Location</image:title>
<image:caption>Anantara The Palm sits on the East Crescent of Palm Jumeirah, giving families a peaceful beachfront base with wide Arabian Gulf views. Its location on the outer crescent keeps the atmosphere calm and spacious, away from the busier trunk of the Palm, yet still just a short drive from Atlantis, The Pointe, and the mainland. From here, you can enjoy a private stretch of beach, easy resort-style living, and convenient access to Dubai’s major attractions, with most journeys taking around 10–30 minutes depending on where you’re heading. We had heard some horror stories about the traffic coming on and off The Palm but we really didn’t have an issue with this throughout our stay (Maybe we just had our timing on point!)</image:caption>

<image:caption>We opted for the Premier Lagoon View Suite, and it was such a lovely choice. The suite was big, bright, and beautifully laid out, with those calm lagoon views that make mornings feel slow and peaceful. The upgrade itself didn’t cost much, and it genuinely felt worth every penny for the extra space and the scenery. If you’re travelling as a family, the Deluxe Family Lagoon Access Room is for you!! It comes with a separate sleeping area for children, complete with bunk beds, playful but tasteful child‑friendly décor, and fun touches like teepees and bean bags. It’s one of those room types that instantly makes kids feel at home while giving parents a little extra breathing space — a win on every level.</image:caption>

<image:caption>‍♀️ Swimming Pools The resort has a brilliant mix of pools, each offering something a little different depending on the kind of day you’re having. The main beachfront pool is the lively heart of the resort, with plenty of space, a relaxed atmosphere, and easy access to the beach for those back‑and‑forth sand‑and‑swim moments. It’s also where you’ll find the most sunbeds!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Winding through the centre of the property are the lagoon pools, which are such a standout feature of Anantara. These calm, meandering waterways give the whole resort a tropical, villa‑style feel, and they’re perfect if you prefer quieter swims or want to be close to your room. Families staying in lagoon‑side rooms or suites can slip straight into the water from their terrace, which makes quick dips with little ones incredibly easy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Crescendo is the resort’s main all‑day dining spot, and it’s a great fit for families. Mornings start with a big international breakfast featuring live stations and plenty of fresh choices. You can return for a generous buffet at lunch, or come back in the evening for one of the rotating themed dinners. Weekends have their own relaxed feel, with a laid‑back Saturday brunch and long outdoor Sunday lunches. The terrace is bright and open, and there’s even a dedicated kids’ room so little ones can play while you finish your meal. Overall, it’s a warm, easygoing place to eat throughout the day.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mai Bar is the resort’s easygoing pool and beach bar — perfect for a cocktail after a swim or a refreshing watermelon crush between dips. Light bites, platters, burgers and salads are served straight to your lounger all day, and the swim‑up bar makes everything feel effortlessly holiday‑ready. Stay for sundowners as the beach glows in the evening light. The Beach House - a bright, waterfront spot serving easy Mediterranean favourites like wood‑fired pizzas and crispy calamari. It’s relaxed by day and beautifully atmospheric at sunset — and it quickly became our favourite place for nighttime cocktails thanks to the views and the laid‑back vibe.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mekong is the resort’s signature Asian restaurant, serving beautifully crafted Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese dishes in a cosy, lantern‑lit setting. It’s perfect for a relaxed evening meal and a lovely change of pace during your stay. Bushman’s is the resort’s signature spot for steak lovers, serving a hand‑selected range of premium cuts matured in‑house for incredible flavour. <image:caption>Anantara Spa I can’t leave this post without mentioning the spa — genuinely one of my favourites I’ve ever visited. It has the most calm and luxurious feel and the treatment menu ranges from traditional hammam rituals to modern wellness options. You can go all in with a full day of pampering, try a Turkish or Moroccan hammam, book beauty treatments, or even opt for IV therapy if you want something more restorative. It’s the kind of place you walk out of feeling lighter, calmer, and a little bit obsessed. Highly recommend!</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Anantara The Palm: The Family Resort That Surprised Us in the Best Way - Tuk-Tuk Kids Club</image:title>
<image:caption>We didn’t have the kids with us this time, but we still popped in for a look — and honestly, it felt like a little haven for younger guests. The Tuk-Tuk Kids Club is packed with creative activities like arts and crafts, games, sports and even sandcastle building! Meanwhile, the Chill Teens Club gives older kids their own space with foosball, air hockey, video games and themed evenings. Everywhere we looked, the children around the resort were having an absolute blast, which says it all.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Beyond the Resort: Our Favourite Punta Cana Day Trips</image:title>
<image:caption>We arranged this through the trip organisers on the first floor lobby at Barcelo Bavaro Grand, who were brilliant — super friendly, full of advice and very patient with our “but is this suitable for small children and parents who want a bit of excitement?” questions. We were collected from the downstairs lobby bang on our agreed 10am pick‑up time and whisked out of the resort on a blissfully air‑conditioned bus. The park was only about 20 minutes away — just long enough for the kids to get excited and for us to enjoy the cool air before the adventure began.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Beyond the Resort: Our Favourite Punta Cana Day Trips</image:title>
<image:caption>Next up — the fun stuff. First stop: Aquakarts. Think go‑karts, but on water, and just as chaotic as that sounds. They were a huge hit with all of us, although the youngest may have drawn the short straw by riding with me… let’s just say my cautious driving didn’t quite match Dad’s need for speed.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Beyond the Resort: Our Favourite Punta Cana Day Trips</image:title>
<image:caption>Second stop was a zip‑line‑style ride that pulled you across the water on a giant doughnut — and it was an instant favourite. The staff were brilliant, starting off slow when the little ones looked nervous, then cranking up the fun once they found their confidence. By the time they were flipping the kids into the water, I’m pretty sure the staff were enjoying themselves just as much as (if not more than) the children. This was voted the favourite for the day!</image:caption>

<image:caption>After a quick break by the bar — a dip in their infinity‑style pool, cocktails for Mum and Dad, and cold juice for the boys — we were ready for our final adventure of the day: the water assault course. It was definitely a tougher challenge for our four‑year‑old, but we all had such a good laugh trying (and failing) to balance our way across without falling in. The giant trampoline with a slide in the middle was a huge hit too, for both kids and parents.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Another adventure booked through our new best friends at the trip office on the first‑floor lobby of Barcelo Bavaro Grand. At this point, they practically knew our family’s holiday style better than we did. It was a slightly longer journey than Caribbean Lake Park — about 40 minutes — but this time the bus wasn’t just air‑conditioned, it came with the most entertaining driver. He had everyone buzzing for the day ahead, chatting away and playing great music that instantly put us all in the mood.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We had a smooth check‑in process after spending a few minutes admiring some of their “residents” — iguanas and crocodiles included. It definitely added a bit of excitement before the day had even begun. We then headed to a café‑style waiting area and used the time wisely — making sure all the children had “emptied their tanks” and were topped up with sun cream before boarding. Peak parent efficiency.</image:caption>

<image:caption>After admiring the glass‑bottom section of the boat and feeding a few fish, we arrived at our first stop — the marine park. Time to get our snorkelling gear on! Well… snorkels for the grown‑ups and big kids, and just goggles for our youngest two (ages 4 and 5), who aren’t quite ready for the whole snorkel‑breathing coordination challenge yet. We slipped into the sea and headed straight for the first tank: sharks. I’ll be honest — I was slightly terrified, even after being reassured they weren’t the people‑eating kind. I quietly swallowed my fear so the children wouldn’t notice, clung to the rope for dear life, and tried to get through that section as quickly as possible without actually making eye contact with a single shark. Meanwhile, my husband and the kids were on the complete opposite end of the spectrum… actively hunting for them like it was the highlight of their lives.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Beyond the Resort: Our Favourite Punta Cana Day Trips</image:title>
<image:caption>Next up was the stingray tank — slightly less terrifying than the sharks, but still not exactly my idea of relaxation. These stingrays were huge. One of the crew members gave everyone the chance to “stroke” a giant stingray, which was equal parts fascinating and nerve‑wracking. It also doubled as a photo opportunity… the kind that will cost you roughly the same as your entire holiday when you exit through the gift shop. ** There’s no photo evidence of this moment — I was fully occupied with the small task of trying to stay alive.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Beyond the Resort: Our Favourite Punta Cana Day Trips</image:title>
<image:caption>Onto the final stop — but not before plenty of singing, dancing, cogos and Coco Lokos being made (and enthusiastically sampled). The last stop was exactly my idea of a perfect boat trip: bobbing around in the open sea, enjoying the floating bar, and splashing about with the kids. They absolutely loved this part because the water was surprisingly shallow, even though we were fairly far out. We could actually see our hotel from where we were, and it was briefly tempting to grab our bags and just wade back… but the boat vibe was too good to abandon. So we sailed back properly — and rounded off the day by spending an eye‑watering amount on the trip photographs. You only live once… right?! *Yes, I’ve used the same photo twice — and so would you if you’d spent what felt like your life savings on it.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Barceló Bávaro Grand – Punta Cana Paradise - ️ Rooms</image:title>
<image:caption>There’s no shortage of room options here — everything from superior suites for three, to family duplexes, all the way up to a presidential suite that sleeps eight (ideal if you’re travelling with half your extended family or just really like space). We chose the Premium Level Family Junior Suite, which gave us two separate adjoining rooms and a shared bathroom: one for the grown‑ups, one for the kids, both with their own seating areas. We even lucked out with a gorgeous sea view. Premium Level gave us free Pirate Island access and a butler who magically secured dinner reservations — even the “oops, we forgot to book” ones. After hearing how tricky it was for other guests, we realised this perk was worth its weight in gold.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Barceló Bávaro Grand – Punta Cana Paradise - Swimming Pools Main Pool – The Social Butterfly This is the social hub of the resort — lively when it wants to be, and chilled the rest of the time. Expect the occasional burst of music, a game or two, and the odd round of aqua aerobics to keep things interesting. If you’re after total silence, this still isn’t your pool. But if you like a bit of fun sprinkled between your sunbathing, you’ll feel right at home. Adjoined to it was a much livelier pool — the kind clearly designed for adults who came for DJs, cocktails, and questionable dance moves. It didn’t look kid‑friendly… unless your child’s hobby is raving and pool-side posing. Barcy Water Park - For the younger crew, Barcy Water Park is basically toddler paradise: mini castles, gentle slides, splash zones, and waterfalls all tucked safely inside the pool. Everything is supervised by entertainers and lifeguards, so parents can relax while the kids live their best aquatic‑kingdom lives. And the best part — it’s free for all guests.</image:title>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Barceló Bávaro Grand – Punta Cana Paradise - Pirates Island is the resort’s full‑blown pirate‑themed water park — complete with a wave pool, slides, and enough swashbuckling energy to thrill the bravest little adventurers. Premium Level guests get in for free, and you’ll need to be at least 1.20m (4ft) to tackle the slides… which sadly ruled out one of our children and, emotionally, my husband.</image:title>
<image:caption>Adults‑Only Pool – The Forbidden Land We walked past it longingly. It looked calm. Peaceful. Quiet. A place where people read books and drink cocktails without being splashed. One day, maybe.</image:caption>

<image:title>Long-Haul - Barceló Bávaro Grand – Punta Cana Paradise - À la Cartes (Included) - Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Steakhouse, Seafood, Spanish, French — basically a world tour without leaving the resort. The French restaurant stole our hearts… unfortunately we only tried it right at the end of the trip, which meant no chance for a round two. Tragic, really. The steak house didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The service took its time, and the steak itself wasn’t exactly a show‑stopper.</image:title>
<image:caption>There aren’t any grab‑and‑go snack bars here for a quick lunchtime bite, so we found ourselves drifting to the Sports Bar — a casual buffet setup with burgers, nachos, hot dogs and all the beige‑food classics kids adore.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kids Club The Barcy Club is already a mini wonderland — video games, ball pools, movies, a playground and a full activity schedule — but the fun doesn’t stop inside the building. The staff regularly whisk the kids off on little adventures: trips to the Barcy Water Park, rounds of mini golf, and even wholesome outings like feeding the ducks (a highlight for my oldest, who took it very seriously). They also get surprise visits from the evening entertainers. One day the circus act popped in which went down a treat!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Evening Entertainment Every evening there’s a themed children’s show at the Gran Teatro Bávaro, and the little ones absolutely love it. For parents, it’s sweet… and after a few nights, just a tiny bit repetitive. But the kids were thrilled every single time, so we happily clapped along like loyal groupies. The late show kicks off at 10pm, which sounded achievable… until we actually tried it. Once the kids beat the jet lag, they were so exhausted from swimming, exploring and generally living their best holiday lives that staying out for it was a challenge. Still, every time we passed by, the show looked brilliant — we just couldn’t keep our eyes open long enough to watch it properly.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Beach & Watersports Bávaro Beach is stunning — soft sand, warm water, gentle waves, and palm trees that look like they were placed there by a stylist. We travelled mid-October which meant we caught the tail end of sargassum season. Some days it showed up, most days it didn’t — and it never once stopped a good beach play or a dip in the sea. You can try: Kayaks Pedalos Snorkelling Paddle-boarding Catamarans. The water is calm enough for kids, and the beach is huge enough that you’ll always find a spot.</image:caption>
